- Flop tube installation and more countersinking
Well I
went flying this morning, first time in two months and flew up
over the peaks district and took a look at all the dams, finished
off with some practise approaches, C172, flapless, hot, nil wind
.... yep my flapless approach was too high even with full trim,
full idle, the old bird did not want to come down lol.
Anyway I took the flop tube down the airfield so the safety wiring
could be checked, it was fine so in the afternoon it was fitted
and torqued into place.
The second job of the day came in the form of more countersinking
!!!!! The holes for joining the baffle plate to the skin had been
countersunk but I decided they were not deep enough and would
leave the rivets very slightly protruding. Cant have that,
so they have been redone taking extra care not to fill the tank
with swarf as that would not be good when it finally has fuel in
it!!!!
